HAIR CARE TIPS
Please see link below for product suggestions:
Washing:
– Prior to washing your wig unit, gently brush out any tangles. Start from the bottom
of the hair and work your way upwards towards the root of the lace.
– Wash straight/ body wave hair every 2 weeks if you wear your wig unit often. You
may need to wash it more often if you sweat a lot.
– Shampoo your hair in a downwards motion raking fingers down the strands.
– To moisturise your hair, deep condition your hair once a week. Coat the hair in
conditioner and leave in a plastic bag for at least an hour (best results overnight).
Rinse out with cold water and leave to air dry.
– Wash your wig units with colour-friendly products.
– Allow water to flow over the lace on both sides.
– Apply a light leave in conditioner to the hair whilst it is wet to keep the hair
hydrated.
Styling:
– Avoid blow-drying your wig unit and allow it to air dry. When heat styling use a heat
protectant to prevent heat damage.
– When flat ironing hair do not exceed 230°c as all hair starts to melt around this
temperature. Use caution with heat to prevent damage and spilt ends.
Night time:
– If you wear your wigs glue-less leave it on a wig head over night to preserve the
styling, do not hang your wig by the band as this will stretch the band and reduce the
security of the wig.
– Do not go to bed with wet hair, as this can cause matting and tangling and shorten the
life span of the wig unit.
– Apply soft styling mousse and wrap the hairline of your wig with our Touch Of Joy
edge-bands to wake up with the melted look and come out any baby hairs in the
morning to remove the harsh crunchy look.
Curly hair:
– Co-wash your wig unit to ensure that it does not dry out.
– Be gentle with curly hair and take time when detangling it to prevent excessive
shedding, breakage and matting.
– Co-wash your hair every other day as curly hair needs moisture.
– When washing curly hair, detangle unit when coated in conditioner, from tip to root
with a flat paddle brush or a Denman brush.
– While the hair is wet apply leave-in conditioner, curling cream and soft styling
mousse to help define and moisturise hair.
– Do not touch your curly hair whilst it is drying to prevent frizz.
Coloured/ highlighted hair:
– Please use moisturising, sulphate-free shampoo and conditioner.
– Please use lukewarm to cool water when washing coloured hair to reduce the amount
of bleeding that happens to the colour.
– Use a serum and heat protectant when styling your coloured wig.
– Deep condition your wig at least once a week and leave to air dry.
– Use a blue shampoo and conditioner on brown hair colours to reduce orange tones.
– Use a purple shampoo and conditioner on blonde hair colours to reduce yellow tones.
– Make sure you dilute the purple/blue shampoo in water to prevent it from staining the
colour.
